私は、Bid Payには随分とお世話になりましたから、Western Unionと言えば金融サービスのイメージが強いですが、本国アメリカでは1851年創立の由緒正しき電報サービスの会社としても有名です。
映画やドラマの中で何かメッセージが届く場面には、Western Unionがしばしば登場します。
「Back to the Future」で1955年にいるマーティーに1855年にいるドクからの電報を届けたのもWestern Union Manでした。当時はWestern Unionなんて知らずに見ていましたから何とも思わなかったのですが、この会社が150年以上前から電報サービスを続けていたという背景があってこそのシーンだったのですね。きっとアメリカで生まれ育った人なら「Western Unionの者だ」というセリフを聞いただけでピンと来るのでしょう。
しかし、これだけアメリカに深く浸透したWestern Unionの電報サービス事業も一昨年に終了。日本では電報は冠婚葬祭の場でまだまだ活躍してますが、アメリカ国内の電報サービスはWestern Unionの事業終了をもって無くなってしまうそうです。
Western Union Manのイメージも時代と共に消え去って行くのでしょうか。 Bye Bye Western Union

eBayのオフィシャル掲示板に早速ビッドペイスレが出来てました。
もの凄い書込みの数で全部に目を通していませんが、Bidpay、アンチPaypalのセラーにはなかなか好評のようです。
セラーに好評と言う事は…気になるのがバイヤー側のプロテクションです。
ぶっちゃけ…ありません
支払う側は常にクレジットカードを利用しますからチャージバックは可能です。
以前のBidpayと同様に支払手続きの前にセラー・バイヤー双方のフィードッバックのチェックなどはあるようです。
良いんじゃない？
私、バイヤーの立場から言ってもこれに賛成です。
Paypalみたいに、後からお金が取り戻せると思うと入札前のチェックが甘くなるし…
取り戻される事を心配するセラーはリスクの高い海外発送を嫌がったりするし…
セラーとバイヤーの溝を深めるだけのプロテクションなんか要らない！
